Simpact exists to work alongside community and voluntary organisations to support the health and wellbeing of their staff and volunteers, in ways that are practical, person centred and grounded in real sector experience.
Simpact was developed by founder Sean McKeown, whose work spans more than thirteen years of hands on delivery within the community and voluntary sector, supporting staff, volunteers and organisations working with people experiencing complex and often unmet needs.
In 2013 Sean co‑founded The Fitzone Foundation Charity in Craigavon, where, until 2025, he played an instrumental role in its development and success, helping to shape a community led approach to health, wellbeing and physical activity. His work there, and across the wider sector, has consistently focused on improving access to support and creating opportunities for people to live healthier, more connected lives.
Since 2014, Sean has also been an active part of The Verve Health Living Network Craigavon, a partnership between a range of community and voluntary organisations and the SHSCT and member of the wider Healthy Living Centre Alliance, becoming one of its most recognised community ambassadors.
In 2020, he became a Verve Community Health Trainer, further strengthening his practical health and wellbeing expertise and frontline delivery experience.
Alongside lived experience as a full‑time carer, he has a unique passion for community development underpinned by relevant qualifications, his work is rooted in relationships, trust and a deep understanding of how the sector operates in reality, not theory.
This combination of sector leadership, community development and over a decade of health and wellbeing delivery informs everything Simpact does.
Our approach is person centred, realistic and shaped by one clear goal: to make communities better places to live by properly supporting the people who hold them together.
Simpact exists because the people delivering vital services deserve support that recognises both their commitment and the toll the work can take.
Simpact is not just a business; it is a continuation of a journey that began in my own neighbourhood, rooted in renewal, resilience and real impact.
I have seen first hand the power of community led health initiatives, championed the importance of wellbeing, and consistently advocated for collaboration as a force for change. These experiences shaped the vision for Simpact and its aim to bridge the gap between community delivery and recognising that the same care, attention and support we offer in neighbourhoods should also be extended to those who deliver the work.
Every wellbeing check is a step towards personal resilience and a positive shift to lasting impact.

We deliver, in‑house or accessible venue based wellbeing checks for your staff and volunteers.
Including:
This is a person centred, private and confidential wellbeing check.
No personal information is shared with your organisation.
We also offer (If requested) practical support for individuals and organisations via our network of referral pathways and partnerships.

Because knowing your numbers is the first step to taking control of your health. Each participant receives personalised results, feedback, and relevant information to help them understand their health status and action accordingly.
Our approach improves:
By taking care of You and Your people, you’re not only improving individual lives, you’re strengthening the entire organisation and its ability to deliver lasting impact.

Whether you make the tea, look after a walking group, give time at the local foodbank, coach the under 10's, search for funding, sit on the committee or a bit of it all.
THIS WILL BENEFIT YOU.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of every community organisation, helpers, committee members and everyday people who give their time so others can play, learn and belong.
But the people who support everyone else rarely get support themselves.
Simpact helps change that. We strengthen wellbeing, reduce burnout and build healthier, more sustainable organisations by putting volunteers at the centre.
When the people behind scene are supported, the whole community becomes stronger.
A clear signal that the organisation values your wellbeing and You Matter.

When you and your volunteers are supported, the whole community becomes stronger.

By improving wellbeing, we help organisations reduce absenteeism, presenteeism, boost productivity, and strengthen community impact.
Healthier staff and volunteers lead to healthier organisations, which in turn create stronger, more resilient communities.
But our impact goes further:
We believe that when people thrive, organisations thrive and communities flourish. Our passion and lived experience drives everything we do, creating a ripple effect of positive change that funders and partners can proudly support.

We like the idea… but we don’t have time to do this.
We know.
Simpact delivers in a way that doesn’t add pressure or workload.
But who pays for it?
We are exploring options around costing and funding alternatives and will discuss during initial consultations.
We have secured funding for
The Backbone Project pilot and it will be offered FREE to organisations who take part.
Is personal information shared with employers or funders?
No.
All health checks are private and confidential. Individuals control their own information.
What does our organisation gain?
More supported people.
Greater stability.
Stronger delivery.
Why is this needed?
The same care, attention and support we offer in neighbourhoods should also be extended to those who deliver the work.
Every organisation is unique and we know many more questions will need answered.
All our consultations a free so it's best to get in touch, chat around your needs and decide what's best for you.

The Backbone Project is a preventative health and wellbeing pilot supporting
staff and volunteers within the Community & Voluntary Sector.
Through our person centred, private and confidential health and wellbeing assessments,
trusted conversations and early intervention approach, the project aims to
better understand the pressures quietly affecting the people who hold communities together.
(NO PERSONAL INFORMATION IS SHARED WITH PARTICIPATING ORGANISATIONS)
Alongside practical health checks such as blood pressure, BMI and wellbeing assessments, the project will also gather evidence around hidden pressures within the sector, barriers to support, emotional strain and the value of preventative engagement.
At its heart, The Backbone Project is about recognising the people supporting communities also need supported themselves.
The project was developed through lived experience and long-standing involvement within the sector,
recognising that many people supporting others are often carrying significant emotional,
physical and organisational pressures themselves. Over the next six months,
The Backbone Project will engage with approximately 30 organisations and around 350 staff and volunteers.
The purpose of this pilot is not to replace existing services or create another layer of pressure, but to create safe, approachable opportunities for people to pause, reflect, understand their own health and wellbeing, and access early support where appropriate.
This is not about fixing everything overnight. It is about starting honest conversations earlier, building trust,
understanding need more clearly and exploring what a healthier, more sustainable future for the sector could look like.
Care for you, not correction.
